Life as a Presentation Design Director in our Conshohocken Shared Solutions Team
Presentation Design Director Deanna Morgan takes you through her typical day working in Fishawack Health’s Shared Solutions team based in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania.

What does your role consist of and why were you drawn to it?
Healthcare can sometimes be a little dry with data- or text-heavy communications being the norm. As a Presentation Design Director, it is my job to turn these complex communications into engaging and easily digestible presentations through design, animations and interactivity. As a senior member of the team, I also have the honour of guiding and mentoring a talented team of designers, making sure that we are all pulling in the same direction to produce creative visual solutions that are not only beautiful but also engaging and easily understood for any audience.
One of the things I love about my job is the challenge – I can really put my own stamp on any project. Not only can I enhance the aesthetics of a slide deck, I can also really make the content come to life in a way that is simply not possible with traditional print design. When it all comes together, there’s no greater sense of fulfilment!
What’s a typical day like?
Typical days are few and far between, especially as the day often starts with a check-in with our UK colleagues who are well into their work day by the start of mine. By midday, our San Diego team logs on and we brief them on important updates that have occurred during the UK and East Coast day.
I do have some housekeeping to do though, with one-to-one meetings with designers about specifics projects and internal resource meetings throughout the day and week. However, these meetings are interspersed with larger discussions with the leads in our medical team to identify new opportunities within the business and the brands we work on. Between meetings I focus on my own design assignments, which can range from graphical abstracts to high-level designs for scientific platforms. This does sound like a busy day, and it is! But the team and I always manage to find time to catch up for a laugh or two (or three) which is often the highlight of my day (besides coffee)!
Why Fishawack Health?
I originally joined Fishawack Health on a freelance basis, something I enjoyed due to the variety of projects I could work on. However, the longer I worked with the group, the more apparent it became that I could get this variety here! That, the friendly and supportive nature of the team, and the opportunity to collaborate with other designers around the globe drove me to quit freelancing and join the company full time.
With all that work, is there time for play?
I’m fortunate enough to have a close circle of friends made up mostly of fellow art school grads. Whenever possible, we collaborate on various activities we are personally passionate about. I really enjoy creating digital art and developing content for social media. Our latest project is a YouTube series we plan to launch this year consisting of hair and makeup tutorials for POC. In addition, a buddy of mine and I are currently working on a mini animated series featuring our illustrative work. Stay tuned!
