Aree Cheshire

Director of Partnerships StrategyBrighton, UK

What does your role consist of and why were you drawn to it?

My role is to develop partnering solutions between patients and their healthcare team. As the patient becomes more empowered and engaged with their healthcare, information becomes a powerful tool for engagement and creating dialogues that will help patients receive the best advice from their healthcare team and make informed choices.

What’s a typical day like?

No two days are ever the same for me. In this role. I have the opportunity to work with people from various parts of the business, across many interesting therapy areas. I am often involved in new business development – responding to a pitch request or working with existing account teams to develop patient partnership and engagement strategies. The level of involvement varies from initiatives for patient education through to patient activation – empowering them to take actions for their chronic conditions.

Why Fishawack Health?

I have been in the healthcare industry for over 15 years now, with Fishawack Health being my fourth agency. I was part of a small, Brighton-based boutique Medical Communications agency that Fishawack Health acquired in 2014. The company has been very supportive on both a personal, and professional level. The flexible working hours and infrastructure provided to work remotely, allow me to balance work life and family commitments.

With all that work, is there time for play?

Before COVID-19, I loved traveling – even for work trips. As part of a previous role as a Consulting Director, there were many travel opportunities. I always ensure that I keep time aside for some fun with colleagues, or to visit friends who are based in that city.

Work has given me the opportunity to see the wonders of Vancouver and a baseball game in NYC, to karaoke in Paris. Trips I love the most are the ones with my family – we were lucky enough to have ventured on an amazing trip to Thailand early in 2020, before travel became a thing of the past and something we hope to be able to do again soon!
